An additional Admin fee is a MANDATORY one-time annual fee for ALL participants - except participants in the Women's LTS program and sailors racing in ARK or Opti Provincials.
The primary aim of the Bedford Basin Yacht Club’s Learn to Sail program is to promote sailing as lifelong sport. We do that by encouraging sailors from a young age to learn the seamanship skills and responsibilities of boat handling; fostering teamwork and leadership.
BBYC’s Learn to Sail program also fosters environmental awareness, promotes a healthy active lifestyle, and supports our sailors in gaining sportsmanship skills.
We offer programs from the Sail Canada curriculum, and have certified Cansail instructors. We offer adult learn-to-sail lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Women's Workshops.
For all Learn to Sail Inquires, please contact the Head Coach Kate Pepler at by email email@example.com, or by phone (902) 717-3396.
Have you your Cansail 2 – or are you a competent sailor? Love sailing, but don't want your own boat? Well this is a great option for you!
New this year, BBYC is offering a dinghy membership for $199+tax: you must have your Cansail 2, or demonstrate that you can sail at that level, and then you are able to take out the 420s when they are not being used by the Learn to Sail program. This is a great opportunity to keep sailing, without the commitment of owning your own boat.
There will be dinghy races every Wednesday night, with a separate start from the keelboat starts – and even if you aren't a racer, it's a great way to get out on the water and practice your sailing.
The boats will be available during the weekends and weeknights, and with a dinghy membership you will able to take them out during normal tender operator hours (9-9). You’ll also receive an orientation, so you know how to sign in and out the boats, and where all the safety equipment is.
We also require that you volunteer 5 hours to the LTS program: this can be done through boat work or helping out at BBQs, or fundraisers. Or perhaps you have another idea or a unique skill that can help us.
For any inquiries, please contact Kate Pepler, the Head Coach, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at 902 717-3396.
The membership is $199 + tax, and there is a $30 Sail Nova Scotia fee added onto the price
